Veterinarians

Marie McKibbin, BSc, DVM

Veterinarian and Managing DVM

Dr. Marie McKibbin graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1984, and from the Ontario Veterinary College as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1988. She spent 3 years in small animal practice in the Oshawa area, before moving permanently to Grey County. She has been with the Owen Sound Veterinary Clinic for more than 30 years. Her special interests include emergency medicine, cardiology, endocrinology, neurology and soft tissue surgery. Dr. McKibbin also has her intermediate level qualifications in small animal ultrasonography. For five years, Marie was a regular contributor to Canadian Living Magazine as their “Ask A Vet” pet columnist.

Dr. McKibbin lives on a farm near Keady with her husband, two dogs, Skipper & Gilly, and two cats, Katniss and Prim. Her interests include singing, hiking, amateur astronomy, gardening, and reading.

 

 

Robyn Budgeon, DVM

Veterinarian

Robyn graduated from OVC in 1996.  Her very first job was at the Owen Sound Veterinary Clinic where she had the privilege of working under the mentorship of both Dr. Marie McKibbin and Dr. Kris Harris.  She is delighted to return here after recently retiring from a 16 year career with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

Robyn has had a diverse career in veterinary medicine. The majority of her clinical career has been spent in companion animal practice with a short stint in mixed practice.  She has worked at small animal practices, a cat clinic and emergency clinics in Ontario.  In 2000, Robyn moved to the UK with her family. During the four years there, she worked for a veterinary charity, which is the biggest employer of veterinarians in the UK.  This experience is provided tremendous clinical experience.  As well, she worked doing animal inspections for the UK government during the Foot and Mouth Disease crisis of 2000.

Robyn enjoys the same variety within her family as she has with her career. She has 2 grown children, two grown dogs, two grown cats and one grown horse and one half grown horse.  She has recently been able to achieve a life long dream of having a horse…. and even riding one.

Registered Veterinary Technicians

Heidi McLeod, RVT

RVT/Veterinary Office Manager

Heidi graduated from the Veterinary Technician program University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus, in 2008. She completed the registration exam that summer and has been at the Owen Sound Veterinary Clinic since May of 2008. Heidi was born and raised in Tara where she lives with her cat Mika. Away from the clinic, Heidi enjoys playing ball and camping in the summer months. In the winter, she spends her time at the curling club and exploring the trails on her sled.

Jennifer Craig, RVT

RVT

 

Jennifer graduated from the Nortern College Veterinary Technician Program in 2002. She wrote and passed her Veterinary Technician Registration Exam right after college and has been a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) ever since. She started her career at the Owen Sound Veterinary Clinic and worked for us for 2 & 1/2 years before moving to Ottawa, ON. After spending 14 years in Ottawa working as a RVT, Jennifer decided to return to her hometown and has joined the team at the Owen Sound Veterinary Clinic again in 2018. She lives in the city of Owen Sound now, but grew up in Woodford, ON.

She currently has four pets. A chihuahua named Cheerio, a terrier named Oscar, and two cats named Basil and Quinn. In her spare time she enjoys baseball, gardening, crocheting, and walking the dogs.

Laura Danard, RVT

RVT

Laura graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Georgian College in 2017. In July of that year, she joined the team at the Owen Sound Veterinary Clinic, and wrote her registration exam to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. Laura has lived in Owen Sound since she was born, and she enjoys walking and hiking with her family dog Mavis. Laura also enjoys biking, swimming, and reading in her spare time.

Courtney Cahoon, VT

Veterinary Technician

Courtney joined the team at the Owen Sound Veterinary Clinic in 2012. She graduated from the Northern College Veterinary Technician program in 2012. Courtney lives in Hepworth with her husband, Chris, and her children, Averie and Jaxson. The Cahoon pet family members are Kahlua,  Brooks,  Anda and Felix. Courtney’s hobbies include horse back riding, volleyball and fastball.

Alicia Pope, VA

Veterinary Assistant

 

Alicia joined the Owen Sound Veterinary Clinic team in January 2021.  She graduated from the Veterinary Assistant/Grooming program from Northern College in 2014.  Alicia grew up in Georgetown before moving to Owen Sound in October of 2020.  Alicia has a family dog that is with her parents down south in Guelph.  In her spare time she likes to go on hikes, spending time with family and reading.
