Changes have been made to the availability of emergency care outside of regular business hours by the local on-call veterinary group. These changes will become effective on November 15th, 2023.
We understand how stressful it can be when your pet suffers an unexpected emergency outside of regular office hours. In order to help reduce your stress, we would like to provide guidance on how you should seek medical care if an emergency arises.
We will continue to provide the after-hours telemedicine service Smart Vet. You will be able to speak with a trusted team of Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVT) and Veterinarians and it is available to all pet owners 24/7 at 226-779-7868. They will help determine if your pet requires an in-person emergency visit. They can often avoid that by doing Facetime, pictures and phone conversations. If your pet does require out-of-hours in-person care, it may be necessary to travel outside of the Grey Bruce area. The team at Owen Sound Veterinary Clinic are working with our clients to help them navigate how to be prepared for a pet emergency.
